WORKING GROUPS
1. Social risks and exclusions: values, families, youth, migrant communities, winners and losers, mobilities, social exclusions; old and new communities and social capital.
2. Informationen societies and economies: employment, job markets, gender, digital divide, competencies (concepts, and impact, and use); transition to work; labour market for scientists, surpluses and shortages of scientists; brain drain; education and training.
3. Policy knowledge and international educational assessment: knowledge 1 knowledge 2; information societies and the cultures of competence and educational policy; PISA and TIMSS; the politics of international measurements and domestic anxieties; assumptions about the international transfer of educational practices.
4. Open worlds and open education: Whose worlds? Which structures? Open to what and to whom? What are the politics, principles and policies of "openess" in education (including new mobilities of students and teachers, the virtual and the real, "learning platforms" and concepts of community and identity)?
5. Old Empires and new empires: old mobilities (Empire and education), new mobilities (GATTS, WTO), diasporas and dislocations, new unifications (Bologna), diversities and communities. Old and new forms of governance in education (states, market forces, bureaucracies, professional organisations). Old and new epistemologies in education, and in school/university knowledge.
6. International and regional developments and local constraints: Eastern central Europe, regional development, regions, developing countries, local aspirations, unifications and dislocations.
