Dear CIES members,

Happy New Year 2007! It is our wish that this year will be of great success academically, professionally, and personally. We would like to take this opportunity to share with you about the activities of the Secretariat, and also express our anticipation for what 2007 will bring to CIES.

As the 2007 conference approaches, CIES prepares to elect a new vice-president and board members. As many of you know, the Secretariat is conducting the annual elections this year. Thus far, many of you have already voted, and we thank you for this! I strongly suggest those who have not voted to do so. You should have received an email with a direct link to the ballot. If you encounter any problem, please write to us at secretariat@cies.us and we will be glad to assist you. We will, during the annual conference, present the results of the elections.

Dr. Hilary Landorf and Fernanda Pineda

Hosting the Secretariat has been a must stimulating and satisfying experience for us. As the FIU Secretariat’s term expires soon, there has been an open invitation sent out for letters of intent. If you and your institution are interested in applying to be site of the secretariat, please send an email to the board (the list of emails is available
online), with a copy to Victor Kobayashi, CIES President, at
victor.kobayashi@gmail.com. You will find a detailed
description of what we do on this newsletter’s bulletin. Again, please feel free to contact us if you have any question.

We know that 2007 will be an exciting year for our Society. Both Fernanda and I look forward to seeing all of you at the CIES Conference in Baltimore. If you ever visit Miami, please stop by the College of Education to visit us!

Regards,

Hilary Landorf, Secretary and Treasurer,
and Fernanda Pineda, Graduate Assistant
