Ailie Cleghorn
Ailie Cleghorn’s
research interests lie in two main areas: (1) cross-cultural conceptions of
childhood / early childhood education, (2) language issues in primary education
in Africa. She has received grants to support her research from SSHRC (Canada),
CIDA, IDRC and the British Council. She currently teaches an undergraduate
course in Comparative Education where most of the students are specializing in
ECE. Her graduate courses include Literacy and Development, and Research
Methods. She has supervised more than 60 masters’ students and is currently
co-supervising three doctoral students. She lives in Montreal and speaks some
French as well as English. Her PhD was received in 1981 from McGill in
Comparative Sociology of Education.
