Lisa Long
Lisa Long is the Senior Education Specialist in Early Childhood Development for Save the Children Federation. She is an experienced educator with a strong background in Early Childhood Care and Development for domestic and international programming. She has program design, planning, implementation, and monitoring/evaluation skills. Ms. Long is a certified primary school teacher and has solid experience from teaching inside both American and international classrooms as well as experience in managing education projects in developing countries. Through her work with Save the Children, Ms. Long provides strategic direction and technical assistance for SC’s Early Childhood Development (ECD) portfolio, both in the US and internationally.
She worked for two years in Albania as the Education Manager for Catholic Relief Services and International Rescue Committee and has four years of direct service experience with young children and their families in preschools in Ramallah, Palestine and in the Bronx, NYC. Ms. Long also worked for one year with the Reverend Herbert Hoover Graves Foundation Fund as an advisor to a rural preschool in Ghana. She is especially interested in developing activities and systems which address the needs of children living in conflict and emergencies.
Ms. Long received her MA from Teachers College, Columbia University in International Educational Development with a focus on Early Childhood Education. She has worked in Western & Eastern Europe, the Middle East, and West Africa. She is a native English speaker with basic French language skills.
