Call for Paper Proposals

Call for Papers for SIG Panels at 2010 Annual Conference (Chicago, IL) February 28-March 5, 2010) http://www.tc.edu/cies2010/

Indigenous knowledges are the subject of much discussion and debate in many contemporary academic fields. This is no less true in the field of Comparative and International Education.
In the face of intense economic globalization, indigenous knowledges worldwide are being threatened with extinction. If we are to create workable strategies for overcoming problems associated with poverty, famine, disease, and the depletion of natural resources, the academic community must develop ways to engage the holders of indigenous knowledge in meaningful, culturally appropriate, and productive relationships in which the knowledge systems of each partner are valued.
At the 2010 Annual Conference, the CIES Indigenous Knowledge and Academy (IKA) SIG plans to organize several panels that provide a forum where interested individuals can explore What Community and Academic Institutions worldwide can learn from indigenous knowledge innovations to respond to the theme of the 2010 conference: Reimagining Education? This conference will be an effort to create conditions for genuine global dialogue among academicians and practitioners of indigenous knowledge.

To be considered for the IKA-SIG, your proposal must be submitted by 15 October, 2009 through the on-line centralized CIES submission system at https://subfill.uchicago.edu/CIESConference/CIESLogin.aspxand. Check the box to
