    • UNESCO the central multinational force behind Education for All provides reports, best practices and details literacy education progress in its annual Global Monitoring Report  www.unesco.org
    • International Reading Association  convenes an annual convention in North America for literacy researchers and educators, publishes Reading Research Quarterly and other journals on teaching reading and sponsors the Status of Reading Instruction Institute  www.reading.org
    • National Reading Panel commissioned by the USG  in 1997 to review research on literacy education produced the landmark publication Teaching Children to Read: An Evidenced-Based Assessment of Scientific Research Literature on Reading and its Implications for Reading Instruction downloadable at   www.nationalreadingpanel.org
    • National Institute for Literacy  is an agency of the United States  Department of Education with an extensive database of literacy research, programs, proven practices, and tools www.nifl.gov
