Call for Nominations
The CIES Nominations and Elections Committee calls for nominations for Board of Directors and Vice-Presidential candidates. The job of this committee is to present CIES members with two candidates for Vice-President, as well as candidates to fill the three regular open slots in the Board of Directors (there is no vacancy in any of the student representative slots this year). CIES members will vote for these candidates in early 2008. This email contains information on the positions and how to nominate a CIES colleague.
All CIES members are invited to make nominations. Self-nominations are also welcome. The Nominations Committee makes a particular effort to ensure the creation of a broad slate that speaks to the diversity of the CIES membership.
VICE-PRESIDENTIAL NOMINATIONS
Vice-Presidential nominees should show evidence of long-term CIES membership of a minimum of ten years and must be a current member in CIES. In addition, the nominee should have served either on the Board of Directors or as a chair of a statutory SIG or have demonstrated similar leadership in CIES. Attendance and participation in regional and national meetings of the Society are also requirements, as well as evidences of work on behalf of CIES at local, regional, national, or international levels. The Vice-Presidential nominee should demonstrate leadership and scholarly attainment in the field at large.
BOARD OF DIRECTORS NOMINATIONS
Board of Directors nominees should show evidence of membership in CIES for a minimum of five years in a postgraduate capacity and be a current member of CIES. In addition, the Board of Directors nominees should show evidence of established professional and/or scholarly reputation in the field and demonstrate a strong commitment to the Society by participation in one or all of the following: a) regular participation in regional and national conferences; b) membership in CIES committees; and c) participation in any activities intended to promote comparative and international education scholarship regardless of professional status and setting.
