Gallaudet University announces a new MA Program in International Development
Gallaudet University in Washington DC is unique in many ways.
While it has the only undergraduate liberal arts college program for deaf
students, its graduate programs are open to hearing and deaf
people from all over the world.
The Department of Educational Foundations and Research at Gallaudet is excited
to announce:
A new Master of Arts Degree in International Development focusing on
people with disabilities in developing countries will begin at Gallaudet University, Washington, DC this coming August, 2006.
The program was developed through a consultative process with advocacy organizations
for people with disabilities, foundations, government agencies, and donor
agencies.
A guiding principle of the program is that people with disabilities have the
right to have a voice in programs that are designed to address their needs.
This Masters program prepares professionals to work in federal, public, or
private international organizations which offer development
assistance to people with disabilities in developing counties. The graduates of
this program will learn to collaborate with a variety of
groups that wish to include people with disabilities in their development projects
and programs.
People with disabilities are especially encouraged to apply for the degree. The
program is a combination of online and in residence courses. Applications are
now being accepted.
The program web site provides more information about the program, as well as
