Dear Colleagues,

The Citizenship and Democratic Education SIG invites your paper proposals for the 2007 CIES conference in Baltimore.

Last year, we were able to gather 25 individual papers thematically into five terrific panels. We hope to build on our success this
year. Our more senior members will review the abstracts for selection into the featured presentation slots allotted to us (often
larger rooms at highly desirable times.)

We are in the process of planning for our members a business meeting, a social gathering, and (we hope) a mentoring session during which
graduate students could discuss their research ideas, plans and methods with senior colleagues. We also hope to conduct a forum by
senior scholars on the future of Citizenship Education research.

Finally, we would like to review submissions from graduate students (full papers by the end of January) to recognize outstanding promise
and contributions to the field.

Our deadline to review and assemble papers is NOVEMBER 7th.

PLEASE NOTE: IF you have already submitted a relevant proposal directly to CIES, please inform us and share it with us. We will
coordinate with the conference planners to find the best panel for your work.

All presenters should (must) join us as members of the SIG. All submissions and inquiries are eagerly awaited and should be sent to:
