Project Director for USAID
Job Description:
Education Development Center Inc. is recruiting a Project Director for USAID funded projects in Francophone Africa, the Middle East and the Horn of Africa. The position will be based in EDC’s Washington D.C. office. The successful candidate will have at least 10 years of experience in basic education in developing countries, including not less than three years’ experience resident in developing countries, working on the design and implementation of education projects.
The position will require technical and management oversight of projects focusing on teacher training, curriculum and materials development, instructional delivery systems, school management and supervision systems. Project Directors are also expected to participate in recruitment of new staff and consultants, proposal and new business development, and should be good communicators of project experience in public forums and in writing.
Candidates should have a Ph.D. or MA in education or a relevant technical area, and must speak and write French at not less than an FS3 level. Language competency in Arabic and/or Somali would also be welcome. Candidates must travel to project sites and will be expected to spend at least 30 - 40% of their time overseas working in the field.
